Meet your Doula & Certified Lactation Educator

Doula Aleecia:
Hello I’m Aleecia (uh-lee-see-uh), wife and mother, I gave birth to two children. I am a Full Spectrum & Certified Birth Doula. My love for lactation and supporting other parents with chest/breastfeeding has led me to also becoming a Certified Lactation Education Specialist (CLES). Like many Oregonians, I enjoy being outdoors, and most of all spending time with my husband and our two children. I have been called to birth work because I thrive by helping and caring for others.
In June of 2019, is where I began my Labor Doula training at Birthingway College of Midwifery in SE Portland. That same year, I started practicing as a new doula in the fall. Later went back to the same instructor to complete my certification in 2022. I truly enjoy this work and am so grateful for all the families I have met and birthing experiences I have been apart of this far and can't wait for the new chapters to come.
My goal in this work is to help clients make it to that finish line, through the journey that birth can be. The most important aspect of my work is building trust with clients. Birth is personal, vulnerable and a sacred environment that should be respected. It is imperative that clients trust and are comfortable with me. I make sure to really listen to client's and their desires to be a successful support person at their birth.
As a black woman, I am passionate about supporting the black community and other marginalized communities. It is important to me to be a familiar face and a sense of safety for better birth outcomes for black and brown people. I am also passionate about reproductive justice for all women and people & strive to be an advocate for all.
As your doula, I provide knowledge, so that clients feel secure in their decision making, birth plan and environment. Comfort, in having a care provider that is culturally and linguistically specific and a member of the care team that you regularly connect with and trust. I hope by our last prenatal visit that you are well informed and comfortable in consenting to your own experiences in the birthing environment and to take control and feel confident in advocating for your own autonomy. However, to always know that I am here for support.

But consumption of the placenta has been a practice during postpartum care and healing by indigenous cultures around the world. Reports from those who ingested their own placenta suggests that taking the capsules led to:

Aleecia is AMAZING! She is so insightful, knowledgeable, easy to talk to, kind-hearted, and patient! I am so glad I picked her to be my doula. Her expertise kept me well informed through out my pregnancy. From choosing where to deliver, to getting information about ways to care for my body through acupuncture and massage, Aleecia had an unlimited amount of researched suggestions and recommendations. Due to her amazing coaching, my baby girl was born quick and easy without any major tearing. As a first time mom, laboring with her was everything I could have ever hoped for. She kept me at ease and focused, as well as upbeat and joyous. Everyone deserves an Aleecia in their labor room! - Sade

Having Aleecia as my doula during my labor and delivery was such a wonderful experience. Aleecia made me feel cared for and supported during my laboring process, she was very communicative, motivated, supportive and helped to be advocate for me. Aleecia would go out of her way to make sure that I had what I needed in order to have a positive labor experience. I personally want to say that I adore her sweet and bubbly personality, I definitely recommend to have her as your doula for your labor and delivery journey! As a first time momma, Aleecia had helped me a lot by educating me on pregnancy, labor and delivery and even postpartum. She was very informative with the information she provided for me and my baby's journey. - Kyisha

Aleecia was such a pleasure to have by my side during such a vulnerable time. From the day I met her she was on top of things and throwing information at me left and right (all very useful). Her bubbly energy is very infectious and inviting. We met late in my pregnancy due to me just moving to town but that did not prevent her from getting all my needs met. She is very resourceful, knowledgeable and attentive. If I didn't know she had other clients I would feel like I was her only one. She was readily available and made me feel like her top priority. This was my second birth and I was praying I didn't have back labor again. Unfortunately I absolutely did have back labor! She pulled some tricks out her bag that helped me get through each contraction. The relief from her massaging and counter pressure techniques was heavenly to say the least. Aleecia listened to me and voiced my wants when I was unable to, I felt very safe and supported in her presence. I would definitely recommend her to everyone especially moms that fear they might have back labor. She felt like family but was very professional at the same time. I am very pleased with the Aleecia experience. 10/10 highly recommend!!- Tyreisha
